Perpetuo
A downloadable game for Windows
Trapped in an apartment that twists with every passing moment, you search for answers about your missing sister. But the deeper you explore, the more the walls seem to remember, and the shadows grow restless. Perpetuo is a first-person psychological horror game that thrusts you into an unsettling loop of guilt, regret, and hidden truths.
Explore every corner of the apartment, solve cryptic puzzles, and piece together fragments of a fractured story. As the environment decays and evolves, a sinister presence stalks you, growing stronger with each loop. Will you confront the truth and escape, or will the cycle consume you?
What to Expect:
- A Shifting Nightmare: The apartment changes with each loop, revealing new horrors and secrets.
- Immersive Storytelling: Discover a haunting narrative through exploration and subtle environmental clues.
- Challenging Puzzles: Every solution brings you closer to the truth—or deeper into the nightmare.
- Unrelenting Tension: A lurking entity grows more unpredictable as you inch toward uncovering the past.
- A Concise Horror Experience: Perfectly crafted for fans of psychological terror and narrative-driven gameplay.
Face the cycle. Break the loop. Or remain in it forever... in... Perpetuo.
Game Duration:
- About 30-60 minutes.
Controls:
- WASD to move
- E to Interact
- Left Shift to sprint
- Left click to toggle flashlight.
Game Requisites:
- Windows 10
- A modern graphic card like GeForce RTX 2060-3060 or similar
- 8 Gigs of Ram, 16 Gigs of Ram recomended
Crashes Worksround:
It seems indeed there is an error in Unreal Engine 5.5.1 which we are using, causes a crash the second time the game is started. As Perpetuo 1.1b, we are now using UE 5.6, that solves the problem.
There is a workaround in order to fix the issue in case you are playing an older version of the game (Before 1.1):
Go to C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Perpetuo\Saved
There you will find a file called Perpetuo_PCD3D_SM6. This file is generated each time your start the game.
Delete this file to avoid the crash each time you want to play the game. Another, permanent workaround until a proper fix is to follow:
- Go to C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Perpetuo\Saved
- Delete Perpetuo_PCD3D_SM6.upipelinecache
- Create a .txt file
- Rename that .txt file to Perpetuo_PCD3D_SM6.upipelinecache
- Make sure the new created file is read only
Now you will be able to start the game many times. Please contact us if you still have any issue.

So here´s what I think so far, No I will not Rate it YET, this comes after I played the Final Game (rating Demos is kind of pointless)
First Of, damn must be a really well optimised Game, I am on an I7 9700k, RTX 2060 (6 GB VRAM) and 16 GB DDR4 Ram.
So how does my RTX 2060 with only 6GB Vram stack up against Unreal Engine 5 which is notoriously hard to run especially on older Cards:
I could run this on 40 FPS on High to Medium Settings most of the Time, really damn Impressive for such old Hardware.
Yep had to cap the Framerate on NVIDEA Controllpanel and add VSync there as well because Ingame Vsync toggle didn´t work for me.
So It should run well for most People, don´t be afraid of using medium or even low Settings, Game still looks pretty good on there.
Very nice P.T. inspired Game just like the Hollow hills Apartment teaser before it.
Pretty good Texture work and nice Special effects.
The props also did get a really nice bump up from the old Unreal Engine 3 Version, I like it. Pretty solid Sound design as well.
I also hope you add more Puzzles for the final Game to shake Things up and give the Grudge Lady (yeah that´s what I call her) some Space to shine.
It has some minor Bugs like flickering Textures here and there but nothing serious (maybe because of low VRAM).
I only found one noteworthy Bug: A black Groundtexturebug in Player Character Reflection here a Screenshot of it: And yes this Black Texture follows the Player Character when moving.
Of course could be because of low VRAM as well.
I know this is an in Development Demo and is not representative of the Final Game, just wanted to mention that.
So that are my Thoughts on it now, Pretty nice I must say. I am looking forward to the Final Game.
So Cheers and have a nice one!!!
Hey, thank you very much. We really appreciate the review and thanks for the issues reported. Glad you like it, and we really hope you will play the final game.
I am also very happy to say as you requested, we are adding more puzzles and content, and we will be doing it as long as the game stays in Early Access (1 year planned from this point) So game will be becoming even better!
Next month the game will be released also on Steam, with a pletora of changes, updates (like new puzzles, full gamepad control, reconfigurable keyboard, etc) demo will get those changes.
Again, thank you for playing the demo, and very kind of remembering the old prototype. Yeah, as you can see, this game takes part in Hollow Hills universe ;)
Have a good one!
Oh my God... So that´s what happened to the good old Hollow Hills Department Teaser from 2016 which is still up on Indiedb by the Way if you are interested.
So you could say that one is a Prototype of this Game or am I wrong here???
Holy Moly... I just looked at this Game for 5 Seconds and immediately recognized the House Asset. But i was still like maybe a Coincidence nothing more...
Than after the first Loop I was MINDBLOWN: HELL YEAH Just like in the Hollow Hills Department Teaser Definitely not a Coincidence!!!
In any case have already wishlisted this Game on Steam, looks damn awesome. So I am really looking forward to this one.
Wish you all the best!!!
I just managed to beat the game, that was frickin absolutely brilliant GG 10/10
Congratulations!
Please rate the game on ich io, as that helps us a lot!
Also keep us updated if you plan to releae any let´s play, we always love to see those!
Cheers!

Hey i ran into a crash on startup that happened in both the old and new version. I think it has something to do with having ray tracing on by default or something.
LowLevelFatalError [File:D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Util.cpp] [Line: 991]
RayTracingDevice->CreateStateObject(&Desc, IID_PPV_ARGS(Result.GetInitReference())) failed
at D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12RayTracing.cpp:663
with error E_INVALIDARG
Hi.
Thanks for the report. It seems indeed there is an error in latest UE 5.5.1 which we are using causes a crash the second time the game is open.
There is a workaround in order to fix the issue, go to
C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Perpetuo\Saved
There you will find a file called Perpetuo_PCD3D_SM6. This file is generated each time your start the game. Delete this file to avoid the crash each time you want to play the game.
Another workaround until a proper fix is to follow:
- Go to
C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Perpetuo\Saved
- Delete Perpetuo_PCD3D_SM6.upipelinecache
- Create a .txt file.
- Rename that .txt file to Perpetuo_PCD3D_SM6.upipelinecache
- Make sure the new created file is read only.
Now you will be able to start the game many times.
Please let me know if that works to you. We will provide a proper update once we found a proper solution to this.
Cheers
Really loving it to so far im a bit stuck on the part where you get to the bedroom and the writing appears on the walls that says bring me back something. Also if you close that door it will lock itself no matter if you are on the inside or outside
Hi! Many thanks for the report. I will look into the door issue. Meanwhile I suggest not to close the door as there is no need for it for now (who knows later!)
As a hint, search for the entire house if something new appeared to pickup or has changed to progress to the next loop, or maybe you already it again, so you can loop again. There will be visual hints, music, etc
Good luck!
I was unable to find any new items to pickup, and i couldnt find anything changed to progress to the next loop. Perhaps next time i play i will search for more items to pickup and rotate around. Also the first solution fixed my game crashing
Thank you! Hope you find the missing object and continue in the loop! We also updated the game, so maybe start from scratch with a new game (the secret diary pages still will count) and keep us updated with your progress!
